Sangiovese, said to be the essence of Tuscany, as well as being the sole grape permitted for the legendary Brunello di Montalcino.
There is no such thing as a typical sangiovese wine. Wines have different characteristics, depending on climate and terrain.
One of our most popular bottles is Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi Nipozzano Vecchie Viti 2011 (pictured below), made with 90% sangiovese and 10% local grapes. It’s easy to drink, with flavours of fresh raspberry and cherry. Serve it with stews, pasta with ragù or Tuscan charcuterie.
